Student Support Services

ULAB has a wide range of support services for new and continuing students, to help them succeed during their time at ULAB and to prosper after graduation.

Alumni Office:

Being a young university, ULAB has a small but growing group of alumni. To serve their needs, an alumni association is in the process of being set up.

Career Services:

ULAB has a dedicated ULAB Career Services Office, which provides students soft skills needed for the job market. The Center offers specialized courses and training on Career Planning, Leadership, Motivation etc., and assists in internship placement. The Center also offers training and resources for students to develop appropriate skills and strategies that lead to successful careers, and the means for employers to access qualified, well-prepared candidates to meet their specific skill sets requirements.

English Zone and Writing Lab:

The English Zone and Writing Lab offer the following free services to all ULAB students:

  • writing help and editing services;
  • workshops and talks on writing, presentations, research;
  • Conversation Hours to encourage students to practice speaking skills with local and native English speakers;
  • Student and faculty tutors to assist students.

Faculty Advising:

ULAB has a Faculty Advising system, whereby each student is assigned a faculty adviser who meets the student twice a term. This adviser guides the student through the curriculum, and helps them choose courses.

Internships:

Both the Business Administration and Media Studies and Journalism Departments require internships for its students. An Internship Adviser assists in securing the internships and monitoring and evaluating the students throughout the process.

Language Club:

The ULAB Language Club ensures students can practice their knowledge in English outside the classroom environment.

Online Courses:

ULAB uses Moodle, the online learning management system (LMS), to make course materials and assignments always accessible to students on or off-campus.  Login to Moodle@ULAB here.

Online Registration:

ULAB provides online course registration, class routine, billing, and grade results via the ULAB Resource Management System (URMS).

Proctors:

ULAB has a Proctor’s Office and Sexual Harassment Committee which monitor and handle violations to ULAB’s Code of Conduct. Student disputes can be resolved in a systematic way via the Proctorship.

Orientation:

The first week of each term, a general orientation and departmental-specific orientations are held to familiarize the students on the values, rules, regulations, and facilities of the university and introduce them to the faculties and senior students.

Student Affairs Office:

Probably the essential support space for ULAB students, the Student Affairs Office (SAO) provides a one-stop center for academic and financial advising, emotional counseling, as well as seminars, facilities, and external resources. SAO is committed to:

  • helping students achieve their academic goals;
  • promoting leadership and social responsibility;
